Men over 21 in the work force... do you carry a brief case/wallet/ just cash/everything to work?

help me understand this. i see people show up to work with every imaginable thing on brief case or sports bag to work. is this normal? what should be carried on you to your daily life? personally i carry my wallet with cash,debit card, id ,insurance i.d and that's it. life in los angeles
