New to wearing contacts - is this normal?

I've never worn contacts until this last Sat. I'd gotten new gles with the same prescription as the contacts. Things with the gles are clear as a bell. With the contacts, from the second I put them on, things go in and out of being blurry. Things I could read with my gles become hard to read or even unreadable with my contacts. It's better than not having anything on, but is that normal? It is day three. Up to 6 hours. I do have astigmatisms in both eyes. Is this difference common for new wearers? Thanks!
